Lwin,

what infos do you need, for me to be in your mailing list?
my email address not good enough?

By the way, thank you for the info you posted about Subaru of Schaumburg. I went there for my tranny. My car is back on the road. They gave me the best estimate.

A month ago my tranny went out while I was 30 miles away from home. I started freaking out when I found out I couldn't do reverse when I tried to pull out of a parking place. I had to ask somebody to give me a push back. I could only drive forward, that's when I suspected my tranny went out.

I kept my svx in the garage since then, till I could find a better estimate. Every dealer I went to, gave me an estimate of $3,600 to $4,100 for a new tranny. I checked the web and stumbled into this club and saw Lwin's post about Subaru of Schaumburg. They gave me a quote of less than 3k and it took only 2 days and I got my car back. I think they did a good job, except for some loud noise I've been noticing lately. I don't know if it has something to do with the recent tranny job.

If you have time, i can meet up and check if it is tranny or bearing. Chances are it's the bearings. The back ones runs $68 from craig (Subaru Schaumburg). And John was asking about 600 for install.

Lwin.

I hope that is easy to fix...

That's how much exactly I spent for my tranny last March - $2700.
But a few people I asked about this recent problem told me that it might be the back bearings this time. They cost $70 each and the sealant $16 each. I don't think there's a leak on my exhaust because I had the whole exhaust system (including the muffler) replaced last year in June, brand new from the factory.

Vivian,

You'll get this next advice about 1000 times, "make certain they do those bearings correctly!" (If you didn't already know)

How is the spring weather there in Chicago this year. I grew up in Peoria (Stop giggling) and moved to Florida almost 16 years ago. The only thing I miss is the changing of the leaves. I definately don't miss the cold winters.
