Is there any diff from other FWD trannys that will fit ares?
Ok i have two trannys that both need the ring and pinion gear set which are parts that are discontinued. But is there any other car that has the same diff that wiil fit are tranny? Or does any one know of a ring and pinion gear set that would fit are tranny?

The SVX is th eonly Subaru that had a 3.54 front diff...
but any of the other 4EAT Subie trannys ring and pinion will fit in the SVX tranny, but you'll need a matching ring and pinion for the rear diff as well...

ok im just starting to learn all this stuff were is ther rear diff located at and how much do think it would cost to go that route. So what your saying is that if i get the ring and pinion for my tranny from a 4EAT then i have to also change my rear diff even if im FWD.

You're right though, the front diff from a 5EAT wouldn't work. -Chike

Well i already have both trannys apart and i have a mechanic who well help me install the ring and pinion for free so i was going to just try to get the gears or the casing and the gears. So a 4EAT diff will fit to are tranny right

Yes,
The front Diff from a 4EAT out of a Legacy/Impreza/Forester/SVX from 90-98 will fit on the SVX Tranny...the newer than 98 may work, but I don't know for sure..

Is the gear ratio on the ring and pinion out of a 4EAT different than are trannys and if so what can that cause?

No, the ring and pinion are different in the SVX, and if you use the front diff (or whole tranny)out of another Subaru, you ALSO have to swap the rear diff ring and pinion to match the tranny that will be used.... Hope this helps to clear it up...

Ok, if you have a FWD transmission you can put ANY 90-98 Subaru front differential in it. 3.54/3.70/4.11/4.44 whatever floats your boat. not having to worry about a rear diff makes your choices much more numerous.

Ok so being that they are a different gear ratio what would be the better one to get or doesnt matter

Depends on what you want, and your driving style... the bigger the ratio number #4.44 gives you the best accelleration from a stop (best for drag racing) but you lose some top end (but who drives very often anyways ) easiest on the tranny 4.11 is a good co-promise of better take off and not losing much up top 3.90 is a little harder to come by, but is the closest ratio to the Stock SVX one. 3.54 is the Stock ratio for a SVX and is geared more toward highway cruising, really hard on the tranny in stop and go driving...this is the highest ratio that Subaru has offered. For myself, if I were changing mine, it would be for the 4.44's as most of my driving is around town anyway, and it makes the car Feel much faster, and lighter than it is.
