Well my wife wants one of those now. (She should have waited a year before buying the BAJA)
I saw a black one on a carrier that looked pretty nice. (yeah there growing on me) For me to really think about it, it would need to come with a manual and have at least 300hp. I can learn to like the way it looks.

We just received our second one, gold color this time. I'm sorry but these things are just plain ugly, esp. the rear. We'll see how well they fare. I could easily see this go the way of the SVX or Baja.....

But the Tribeca will probably appeal to the same incomprehensible group that buys Chrysler Pacificas and Ford Freelanders. They just want big, stupid cars.

Given increasing fuel prices and a generally lethargic economy, Subaru's timing in bringing an upscale and upsized SUV to a market already flooded with a bewlidering number of SUV models seems especially bad.

Indeed. The sticker price on our white one is $36,500. I'll check to see what the gold one costs. I'll also check the MPG rating. Dave |

MPG is 18 city, 23 highway.

Subaru should re-introduce the Brat and dual-range 4WD wagon with an advertising emphasis on utility, durability and economy.

The problem Darrell is that Subaru is trying to move itself upscale, above mainstream Japanese cars and below the premium marques like Infinity. A "Japanese Saab" as often quoted in the media. It's an ambitious plan with only 2 platforms; Outback/Legacy/Baja and Impreza/WRX/Forester.

Not a big stretch considering Fuji-Heavy builds Saabs! Dave Last edited by red95svx; 05-27-2005 at 01:39 PM. |

If they'd introduce a real Brat clone with a 1.8 or 2.2 and the old "On-Demand" 4WD and a usable cargo bed, and offer factory accessories like bike/surfboard/ski racks and off-road packages, price it competitively and market it aggressively to generation Xterra, they wouldn't be able to build 'em fast enough.
