Thinking about selling... Someone help!

Well, the time may have come for this particular SVX of mine to pass on to the next owner. I am moving to Seattle in August/the end of July, and simply need money more than I need the car.

I do not have a job lined up in WA, so I'm not sure what I'll be doing. I may not even need a car to get to and from work (I do some remote web and graphic design anyway). My car blue books at $4000. With all the required and preventive maintenance and modifications that I have made, I think my car is realistically worth at least $4500 (it also has a rebuilt tranny with only 20k on it).

However, I really don't want to leave my baby.

I'm thinking that I should be able to put away about $1000 - $1500 from the sale for a new apartment and some spending money (I have more cash saved up). I'm also hoping that I can then spend about $3000 - $4000 on a decent '92 or '93 SVX. If I'm lucky, maybe I can get another decent '94...

Anyway, I'm not sure why I'm posting this thread. Maybe for some emotional support, or perhaps a few words of advice from the other SVX addicts around here. Maybe it's a forecasting temporary good bye?

There are a lot of SVXers up there in the Northwest. The last time I visited Seattle, I saw four different SVXen for sale in the newspaper alone. Is this common? Would it be fairly doable to get a somewhat nice SVX with that amount of money?

I definitely can't wait for AWD if this pulls through the way I want it to.

YOU POSTED BECAUSE

YOU REALLY WANT AN AWD SVX! You have said it many times. So, go ahead and sell, then find another SVX with AWD traction.

I agree. It's the right time to sell and get that AWD '93/'94 SVX you've always wanted!

Yeah... Yeah, I have said that many times. I think it's just plain safer in general, but with rain and snow and colder weather in the north I think it would be a near-necessity to have handy.

Maybe I'm having withdrawals from my wonderful car and I haven't even sold it yet.

Now that would be an absolutely awesome welcoming party.

And yes, I do think that I should sell it.

Earl, time for you to give up the glory just a wee bit! All I need is one!!

Not to rain on your parade, but I think it will take more than $3,000 or $4,000 to get a good 93 or 94 AWD. I guess you would have to define what decent is. 93 usually go for a little more because they are the Anniversary Edition, and 94 are newer than 92s. There are some good ones around though, and with a little help, you may be able to find what you are looking for.

So, my first reaction was to grab a frying pan and drive over to Grass Valley and BONK YOU ON THE HEAD!!!

Then i figured the PC aproach would be best... I'd just offer you $3000 for the car...

Then I discover it's a FWD... Sell the MF*** and get an AWD, after all, it is Seattle you're moving to, and stick arround, I'm thinking of a seattle,portland/ect trip this winter if my '92 is back on the road

Then I can drive back to NJ to see if Kelli thinks I have a nice butt

Paint scratches, dings, little tiny dents, scrapes in the front bumper, and things of that such do not bother me.

A slight oil leak or PS leak won't bother me much either. I won't stand for leaking coolant though (after dealing with my water pump ordeal). I have no problem changing a seal or five (i.e. cam and crank seals). Changing a belt, flushing and refilling fluid is no problem either. Basically, I'm looking for an SVX with no major engine problems (i.e. a blown head gasket).

As long as the tranny shifts smoothly and appears to have the appropriate amount of slip I am comfortable with it. If there is a flare or a large RPM drop between shifts, that is not what I would consider to be decent.

Anyway... I would like to go to that auction in MT, but getting there without a car would kinda suck. Anyone have any ideas?

$3000? You can come on up and buy the sucker if ya want. $4500 and it's yours. lol.

Hey, the FWD is quicker than the AWD anyway. It's kinda fun when you can e-brake the rear end out of its traction threshold on dry pavement too.

Could be a good parts car for your SVX with the shot tranny too.

Exclamation THE CAR IS FOR SALE, MAN

Anyone who has not noticed, I am officially in Seattle now. I will be moving into my apartment around the 15th of August.

So, long story short, my SVX is up for sale.

The thread for it is here.

I would like to sell it before the 15th. Therefore, I just dropped the price $250... Check out the thread for it to see all the info.

Sorry to have to part with the thing, but you gotta do what you gotta do, eh?

I wouldn't sell it. Reason? SVXs are not exactly rare, but finding one that's been well taken care of IS. If you know the history of your SVX, I think that's worth the money right there.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help the in-need-of-money problem.

I just dropped the price again. Only $5000. Look here.
