Missed the GRAND OPENING

Sorry I missed tonights event.
I was travelling and by the time I got to the Hotel at 12:30pm, it seems like everybody had gone home.
How did it go????

Well, I got in late myself - went to the chat room sometime after 10.
What a blast! I was rolling on the floor in tears!
And I must say that I will never look at a chicken nugget the same way again!

I have a feeling it might be even wilder tonight, since some folks won't have to go to work tomorrow.

I dunno what happened, Colin. There shoulda been a room full, even at that time. Jerry, you musta came in during my "break." I signed in three times: once at 7:10 and chatted 'til around ten to eight, when I had to get some food (hadn't eaten all day). My lovely wife then siezed the phone, and I had to be rude to make her get off, around twenty to nine and I was on 'til a little after ten, I had to "remind" her I'd reserved the computer from 7-9. Then, I came back on around 10:30 or so and was there 'til around one. Sorry I missed the "Chicken Nuggets" and you. 'Sokay, we'll get things hoppin. I'm looking forward to meeting Paul in Reading.

Hey, sounds like I missed a good time also! I'm afraid that I know how montypython feels... I'm only hanging around here when I get time (like, never!), and I haven't been around Yahoo! in weeks because I've been away.

<sigh> I'm currently in Mahwah, NJ... working on 4 different offices in Manhattan, Queens, Chestnut Ridge NJ Pen Argyll, PA... and DAMN I miss my SVX

Ah well, the things we do for a living, huh? It'll be three more weeks before I get to drive my car again for a couple of days... then it's off to Atlanta, GA and Orlando, FL for more work for three weeks!!

Gah!

Still, it's nice to be in the "new community" over here

I just find this a lot easier to keep up with in my limited spare time right now than Yahoo!

Glad to see you're still "thumping".

If you're going to be in Hotlanta over the weekend of April 20 -22, with nothing to do, you ought to run up I-75 and drop in on the E. TN meet. Oak Ridge is not that far from Atlanta.

I'm sure Thorn misses you too

You don't have to be exciting, just an SVXer, Paul. I liken this to the good ol' days when DJ's were actually celebs. It's just great to be able to tie a face and voice to the words. That way, you can actually "hear" and "see" the person in their posts. I was "halfway" flattered at my first SVX meet (Reading 2000), when Maria is a speednut said, "You sound just like your posts." It meant to me that I was getting my personality through in my selection of words. Now, some people are NOTHING like their posts. They actually have MORE personality on the board -- sometimes the "shy" are less inhibited behind the screen. But, I've found that there hasn't been a sh!thead in the bunch -- SVXers (at least the ones that I've met, in person, from the Yahoo board), are the greatest people I've ever met ---- DON'T disappoint me, Paul.

PS: Had a micro-meet with wasions and his wife Sharon (we had lunch together). They're great folks, and interestingly enough, neither of us were driving our SVXes today. Perhaps the SVX is one of those "stairstep drugs" to friendship.

I think my Laptop has a problem with the Chat room.
I'll try it again next week because I'll be in Philly all week.
Otherwise, I'll just try to keep up with the posts.

Yep, I missed it too. I crashed my computer Tuesday AM. It took me until Friday to get it reloaded and running again. I'm still trying to load everything back up. Oh well, at least it's not cluttered up anymore. It's kind of weird to see just four items on your desktop!

I would recommend using an IRC client for the chat room rather than the Java setup. It'll give you a lot more options.

Look here for a few: (for win2k), browse the site for other OS versions.

I have used Mirc and Virc with good success, Virc is freeware and smaller, Mirc has more options.

Nope, that weekend is gonna be the first true "weekend" I'll have had in several months... and I'll be spending it in Orlando, FL with my lovely wife by my side. Kids are staying with grandma

Yeah, I know Thorn must be missing me... but my wife's now driven him for the first time and I think she's hooked! She keeps telling me the car's "much better to drive than to ride in", whatever that means

I can't wait to get back to "the norm" and start getting that damned MP3 player installed. It all works, just need the time to fabricate a custom case and install the bugger!
