Tires for 2007 Outback

We will need tires for our 2007 2.5L Outback XT (turbo) Ltd. soon.
The OEM tires that came with it are Bridgestone Potenza RE-92A's. My experience with these tires have only been fair to good and they are only so so in snow. The Yoko AVS dbs on my SVX were much much better in snow.
I went on the Tire Rack website and the tire of chice seems to be the Continental Conti Extreme Contact DWS. This is an Ultra High Performance -All Season tire. Does anyone here have any recomendations for Outback tires or any experience with these particular Contis?

Re: Tires for 2007 Outback

I have the DWS's (and on the wife's Forester), and like them so far. Can't comment on snow handling as we didnt get much this past winter and i had Blizzaks on for winter anyway. Got the Conti's based on their snow reviews for that time when it might snow, but i dont have the Blizzaks on yet ......

As far as summer goes, they are grippy and quiet.

Re: Tires for 2007 Outback

I have the DWS tires on my A6, and have had them on my S8, too. They're the best tire for the money. Period. I actually prefer them to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires that I had before, and they're half the price!

Re: Tires for 2007 Outback

They are quite loud and not very grippy as they age. Personally I wouldn't buy them. They came with the one Jaguar we have. Took a week to swap them out with a nearly new set of ASX's that were on the Imp we had at the time. Its quite obivous that I have different standards then those who use their cars for commuting rather than enjoyment though.

Currently trying to find a replacement bike tire for my Tiger as the Mich Anakee tire is the worst tire for road grip I've ever driven/riden on. I'm coming off a bike which wore Chen Shins and my only complaint with them was they were horrible in the snow..

Benebob,

My only reply is:

What are ASX's and is the Imp a Hillman or a Chrysler Imperial?

Kuhmo Estca ASX's. I think they have been superceded now by the 4x but they may be making both. Impreza, not the Hillman, though I'd definately like a convert. Imp if you see one for sale.
