Just what the title says.
The OEM weighs a ton.

Re: Light Weight Trunk?

Remove the wing, get your dremel out and trim out all the bracing. Voila, best you're gonna get.

Is it just for opening that you find it heavy? Chances are your trunk struts are shot. It should be able to hold itself open at about a 45 degree angle.

Re: Light Weight Trunk?

Yes the struts need replacing but the trunk is still very heavy.
I didnt find anything while searching so I wanted to see if anyone ever did a custom carbon one.

Re: Light Weight Trunk?

Someone took theirs off and threw it on a scale. The result was surprising. I don't think it weighs as much as you think. The hinge design is what makes it feel heavy.

Yes I think that was the case. It supprised me how light it was when I pulled it off my parts car when I wrecked it.

Re: Light Weight Trunk?

don't bother trying to cut anything out. It is nothing but a dusty waste of time. Whar you get out doesn't even equal the weight of 1 strut. Been there done it and still coughing crap up.
