knock sensors

I've been getting an on/off check engine light on my 94. I took it to the dealer who told me that i need to replace BOTH knock sensors. I couldn't find them in stock at any local auto parts so I had to place an order. The computer list that our engine only has ONE knock sensor. How many knock sensors does our engine have? One or Two?

Re: knock sensors

Two - Same part number.

If you are going to install them yourself, do a search to find more info on them, if not get a job quote then PM me, I might be able to do them for you - we are not to far from each other. -- Ed

Re: knock sensors

Autozone had them for around 35 each if I remember correctly.

Re: knock sensors

Thanks for the responses. I have ordered two. When they come in, I'll check on install proceedures. If it looks too much for me or I don't have the time, I'll get an estimate and get back to arrange an install.

Re: knock sensors

removing the alternator makes the front sensor a snap to replace...using a swivel fitting on a long extension makes the rear sensor doable.

Re: knock sensors

A few weeks ago I had CEL come on and it showed the Knock sensor on the drivers side of the engine (can't remember the code 28 maybe). It was a real pain in the ass to get at. A few days ago CEL again, now it's the other Knock senor, I think it showed code 22 so tonight I attack the passenger side sensor...at first glance it looks easier to get at...good luck and I hope you have long skinny fingers.
