I like the PermaCool filters which have the temp sensor fitting on them. I have put them on mine even if they have the small inline filter on them. I just like them better and you can get the replacements anywhere.

The Summit one has a fitting for a temp sender.
BTW it's just a permacool relabeled. Even comes w/ permacool papers.
An AC PF13 or alternate for shorty fits great.

Thanks to all and thanks for the links.I've only put 2k on it since I got it.It's been garaged since nov. and I've got the fsm's memorized I've read them so many times this winter. I don't know the history of this car that well so I'm trying to be proactive and head off any problems. The car seems to run very well now but I'm sure it's not done with me yet

I believe the Subaru external ATF filters only came on the '92s (and '93s?), as these had a screen in the radiator ATF loop that was clogging and causing transmission failures. You can get a Legacy filter kit from Subaru for about ten bucks, complete with hose clamps and a length of hose, a protective rubber sheath (even a length of grounding wire), but you'll need to find an SVX-specific mount from a junkyard or e-Bay.
