92 SVX Fuse

My mechanic says the mauals tell him the transmission (4wd/) fuse is on the right side of the car. Fuse boxes are on the left. Is there a special place for this fuse? he can't find it and the fuse is the apparent problem.

thanks

Sounds like he needs more pictures in the manual, and maybe you need a new mechamichanic? Just my opinion, but I would worry if someone working on any of my vehicles told me they don't know where a part is located.

Main Fuses on the same side as the Battery. The FWD fuse is Number two on the right if you open up the access panel next to the battery.
If the fuse is in, then the Rear wheels are disengaged.
If the fuse is out, then the car should operate in AWD.
Unless your's is Fwd only.
Internal fuses near your left foot in the cabin.

fuse

Ok - the reference the mechanic and the tranny guy he called both said it was on the right side of the car. Obviously whatever reference they are looking at either faces the car or is mistaken.

If the computer is recieving a faulty signal telling it to engage the AWD when it isn't supposed to - what could be the electrical glitch that is messing up the computer for the AWD function. As I said when the computer was reset the problem went away at least on the way home.

Possible speed sensor. Have they checked the TCU for error codes?

P.S. Find a new mechanic. Yours doesn't sound like he knows his ass from a hole in the ground.

Ok

My mechanic is about to retire and it is getting a bit noticable. However he is an honest guy that gets challanged with my strange cars.

Any SVX mechanic recomendations for the San Francisco East Bay Area. The subie dealers near me are the worst of total sleazballs.

Thanks, I didn't realize that age was the issue.
I had the impression it may have been much different.

It's always good to have someone like that who will be straight up with you, whatever the case.

Good luck in your search for good work, wish I could help.
