OT: mountain Fire..
There is a fire burning out of control 12 miles as the crow flies from me. 1400 acres so far....many homes evacuated....
Hwy 285 (a main artery) is closed; a thousand cars at a standstill... Bad scene. Please use care in the mountains. Its bone dry up here! Tom |

mountain fire
Thanks for the concern, Don. It is no threat to me as long as the wind doesn't change direction. The Denver news says over 2000 acres has been burned and over 1200 homes have been evacuated. They have 300 firefighters on the scene with more from the northwest enroute...
The good news: No homes have been damaged as of yet. The humidity was 4% at 5pm. Tom |

Whereabouts Tom? I used to live on the east base of Evergreen Mountain (past the high school) and have many friends up there.

hey beav!
I knew you spent some time in this neck of the woods...The fire is north side of 285 near Bailey, Pine area.
I am the system operator for Brook Forest Water District. Remember Brook Forest Road? I know you miss the great climate and low humidity here! |

Yeah, I've done some 12oz. curls at the Brook Forest Inn a few times. I've got some friends that live just up the road (turns off almost directly across from the inn.)
I used to work with a guy that lives in that area, that's all he needs. One Christmas the fireplace, in the house he was renting, vented through a hole nobody knew about and leveled the place, presents and all. About a year or so later his wife and oldest daughter were driving down 285 and one of the axle flanges on the back of the car sheared and sent them over the side, his daughter didn't make it. This is probably the last thing he needs...
