Buff 'N Shine?

hey guys.. my car is covered in paint chips (looks like someone took a few shots across the hood with a 12 gauge) and shallow scratches.. I absolutely cannot afford a paint job, so I'm going to have to do some pretty serious exterior detail work. I took it by the local buffing shop and was quoted $150 just to buff & shine the exterior, $250 to touch up the paint, then buff & shine, and $350 to tough-up paint, buff & shine, and clean the interior real nice.. does that sound about right?

also, can someone please give me some detailed instructions on filling in all these paint chips? thanks

-Adam

Ya, that sounds about right

Those are close to the numbers I got quoted for my buckshotted front-end. In NE (as you know) they use sand, which doesn't cause as much rust, it just blasts the paint and pits the windshield. I don't think you'd be happy with the results never-the-less.

I'm gonna wait till I 'can' afford the complete paint job and have the whole car re-done... .. .. I think.

I've buffed out some minor scrapes myself and it doesn't look half bad, but there's the rub ( ) ....half.

My whole car is in serious need, but as I put 80miles at 80+ mph /day all year round, I don't think I can avoid it. I've given in to just enjoying the ride and try not to look real close when I get out.

After 216,000 miles, mine looks like it went through a rockstorm...

I wouldn't spend the money on the buff 'n shine, I'd take the money and put it in savings

Every time you were going to take it to the car wash, throw 10 bucks in savings and wash it yourself. You'll be able to afford the new paint job on the hood sooner than you think.

Just my $.02
