5 speed tranny info needed
I am preparing to do a 5 speed swap on a newly purchased SVX in the next couple of months but want to get an early start on Tranny shopping.
My questions. > Which models and years have hydraulic clutches? > Which models have the 4.11 diff vs the 3.9? > Where can I find info on the gear ratios, ie 4 th and 5th gear > ratios? Some boxes have a 0.78 5th while others have a 0.74 ratio. Thanks, //dm |

I think all subarus used hydralic clutches from either 96, or 97 and on. But the 91-94 Subaru legacy turbo and WRXs outside the U.S. (since they wernt in the U.S.) all had hydralic cluthes.
I belive the U.S. WRX has a 3.9, rear diff, while the non turbo 2.5rs came with the 4.11. I also belive that the U.S. legacy turbo came with a 3.9. Basicley unless you get some STi RA box, the NA cars will have the shorter gearing when compared to the turbo counter parts. What's the specific configuration you're looking for?
My tranny was from a 2002 WRX, 3.90, .738 5th gear, stock hydraulic clutch. Between 2300 and 2400RPM @ 60mph.
