Engine Idle Problems when hot?

Ok... as I said in my Tranny post... I usaly drive my car at night

Today however i went out to pay some bills, sence my mom didnt feel like going out cause she isnt feeling good. Anyway... Drove about... lets see... 10miles i think... anyway... NORMALY i idle right at the mark where i should.... however today
i was idleing right at the bottom line of the tach... felt as if it wanted to cut off... but it didnt...

However... it bothers me ;( I kinda rev'ed the engine to 750 at stops just so it wouldnt cut off

Any idea's of what the problem can be?

Mine only did that when the cams were misaligned and when there was resistance in the crank.

How's it start? You may need to replace your water temp sensor soon. It's a common failure, takes 5 minutes to replace and costs a whopping $25.

Well, my water temp sensor works just fine, this I know when
my radator started spewing and i had to replace it!

Anyway... i could drive it for QUITE awhile before it starts...
took about a full 15miles before it started the last time
(my city, jacksonville, florida, is huge, so 15miles is like from one side of town to the next, and thats still not city limit to city limit)
Anyway... it started about 1mile away from home... idle was low, felt like it wanted to die, but never cut off.. No performance difference... I was also watching the water temp... no change in it.

No, I mean how's the car start - not the problem.

As for the temp sensor, the SVX has two of them. One is for the ECU and one is for the gauge on the dash. The one for the gauge rarely fails - I've never seen it happen. But the one for the ECU does, and it causes symptoms similar to those you're describing. It also tends to make the car hard to start eventually.

well the only change i've notice when it comes to "Starting" the car... is it takes like 1/2 a sec longer to crank.. but thats it... and when it does crank... it stays at high idle for ALONG time... i hate putting it in drive cause it does it all hard and everytime im rushed for time, i just cringe at the "THUNK" sound ;(

Also a possibility. It might also just be dirty and sticking.

Hope no one minds me jumping in here, but my car just started doing something similar.
Temps here in Sac have just recently started hitting triple-digits, and while sitting at a light a few days ago, with the AC running, I felt a "break" in the idle, like it missed a beat, and it repeated itself a minute or so later. I thought it was AC related and yesterday, when it started doing it again, I switched the AC off, but it did it again a moment later, and continued doing it regularly the rest of my trip home, every time I sat at idle. Doesn't die, just hiccups? This morning on the way to work, with air temp about 65, it was doing it fairly regularly, but always at idle, after warming to normal operating temp. Seems to run fine otherwise.
Ideas??

Glenn

Dave. I'm still waiting to hear from you on FSM updates.
