Driving To Ky...Need Winter Tips

Im taking a trip to kentucky tomorrow to help a friend change a tranny in his POS VW. I will be taking my 92 Legacy L/AWD. I'm a texan and all we get is ice once or twice a year, I haven't driven on snow. Do you all have any tips. Like should I mess with tire pressures or other tips? I'm bring plenty of tools obviously...all my fluid have been recently changed/flush. Any other tips you all can offer a Texan as far as vehichle setup or technique?

Where are you driving to, in KY? RIght now, you don't have to worry too much about the snow or ice. You'll have to deal more with rain. Although the rain is supposed to end this afternoon, there is a flood watch. Don't worry with air pressure. Just keep the tires aired at the recommended PSI, even in snow, and you'll be fine.

If you find yourself on snow or ice, give yourself and everybody around you more room. Don't do anything sudden.

And remember that while the AWD will help you maintain control under power, it does nothing for you under braking.

Thanks for the advice guys... Oh, and I'll be going to Fort Knox, well my army friend lives in a town called Maldraugh which he says is surrounded by the base. As long as I don't hit anything solid...I should be ok

Good luck on your trip. You'll be somewhat south of me. If you were closer, I'd try and meet up, but, that's a "fer piece" for me to drive. Have fun! (BTW, My Stepson's going to school in Dallas. I was just there over the Thanksgiving Holiday )
