Subafreaks garage is a magnaflow distibutor so I got a good cost plus it saved me on shipping, I'm sure your prices are good but it was just easier for me to have him do it all. The setup sounds sick (in a good way). I'll definitely give you credit for the idea Dayle.

Scott,
Just to chime in with my 2 cents and not to put down anyone elses system.... I had to replace my factory muffler and did so with another factory one, i replaced my resonator with a stainless magnaflow resonator, the big factory cat with a high flow catalitic (actually i put in the resonator and high flow cat as they had been taken out by a previous owner...a high flow cat offers better flow than a y pipe...and the resonator creates scavenge effect), and have straight drop down pipes instead of an cat on each side. With this set up my car is still very quiet and the tone is awesome. Sounds like a supercar quality sportscar that's attempting to be quiet rather than a rice burner that's attempting to be loud. I highly recomend it. |

I was just looking at the pic of the components and noticed that the cat is a one tube in one tube out cat. I think you should use a two input one output cat that way you don't have to create a y pipe. The drivers side bank drops down into one input and the passenger side drops down into the other. I can tell you because i went from a y pipe to the two input cat that it's much less restrictive, the two sides are coming together in an expansion chamber rather than welding two pipes together which even if done well leaves them both being cut down quite a bit right before they turn into the one big pipe.

IF ANY ONE IS INTERESTED I HAVE A BRAND NEW NEVER USED CONVERTER FROM SUBARU W/ ALL THE GASKETS AND HARDWARE . I THOUGHT I WOULD BE WISE AND HAVE ALL I NEEDED TO REPAIR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM(NEVER TRUST A BIG CHAIN SHOP), TURNED OUT THAT THE TWO PIPES INTO THE CAT WERE BAD AND THE RESONATOR (CUSTOM BENT PIPES W/FLANGES AND NEW RESONATOR:$270 INSTALLED YOU CAN'T BEAT THE INDEPENDANT SHOPS). THE ORIGINAL CAT WAS AS CLEAN INSIDE AS THE NEW ONE. THE SHOP GUY RECOMMENDED TO RETURN THE NEW ONE, WELL IT'S CONSIDERED A "SPECIAL ORDER" PART AND IS NOT RETURNABLE SO MY LOSS IS YOUR GAIN. I PAID $365 FOR EVERYTHING MAKE A FAIR OFFER AND IT'LL BE IN THE MAIL NEXT DAY. INCIDENTALLY MY '92 HAS THE ORIGINAL STAINLESS MUFFLER AND IS IN GREAT SHAPE ARE YOU SURE IT'S BAD? THE MAGNAFLOW ONE IS COMMONLY USED FOR GM LATE MODEL F-BODY CARS (FIREBIRD/CAMAROES)

I tried it both ways..

outlet, ....results where okay. My second car I consulted with the manufacturer Carround about which way to go. Their engineer suggested the single inlet oval cat with a Ypipe for better flow, and it even works out to a lower cost..... End result: car did feel like it had more hp then my other car, and my mpg went up even more then my last car too. Final anaylsis.....this was truly a better set up overall.
