I was surprised at the ist time I got sideways in the svx. I thought it would be like on rails but with those big meat street Bstones, it was a handful.

My M3 can't even get off the curb in the snow with the Pilots on it. a cop had to push me off and then yelled for me to go back to FLA...

oh man, the SVX is a BLAST to get sideways in.. Subaru AWD is truly designed for blowing donuts in empty parking lots on snowy nights. I'm convinced of this. You get going nice and fast in a straight line, let off the gas, crank the wheel, mash the throttle (making sure it's in 1st gear) and HANG ON. oh man.. the feeling of getting pressed back into the seat as the car pivots on a point somewhere just between the two front tires.. whew.. my heart starts pounding just THINKING about it...

Every car is a handful in snow. When I say that the SVX is fantastic in the snow, what I really mean is that it's better than most. No car will handle like it's 'on rails' in the snow.

actually with the 5speed i can just get her going from the start, it DEFINETLY has a rear bias, as if you turn the wheel and give her soe gas it just kicks out, it was great, people were yelling and cheering

exactly - nothing goes on ice. my wife was driving the WRX yesterday in a bad little snowstorm that lasted about 5 minutes. we were approaching cars slowing down for a redlight, she applied the brakes and we went....sideways! ABS was chattering and we headed into the other lane, with an oncoming car barely missing us. WHEW! she said,"what good is this AWD?!?" i had to explain that AWD doesn't help braking on ice (braking that she should have been doing a lot sooner, considering the conditions
) apparently, i'm gonna need to take her to a snow-covered parking lot for some winter driving practice.
as far as the AWD goes, i can hustle right up my un-shoveled driveway, while the neighbor slips and slides up his nicely shoveled one.
