The maintenance schedule calls for a check of the SRS after 10 years. Have you had it done?

My feeling about airbags is that there's a lot of stuff in there that can blow up and maim me if I mess with it, so I'm quite comfortable with having the dealer do it.

Solar, mine's a '92 also, and it hasn't been done. I haven't taken it in for that precisely because I don't know how much it'll be.

I suspect a lot of people don't do it if the warning light isn't coming on.

How 'bout it? Anyone ever do this check?

Maybe related, maybe not...

My fruit rollup, as the old 'Cat called it, or the roll connector developed a loose contact somewhere in there. It started with the Air Bag light coming on whenever I did full turns, to it eventually not working period.

Replaced the combination switch assembly, and I now have a functional air bag. Or so I hope. And hope to never need to find out.

airbag light

yes I also have a 92 silver svx and the odd time my airbag light will pop up. Did not notice any trends on when it decides to light up and haven't had it do this for a long time. But it does say to do a check after 10 yrs; haven't done this yet. Let me know if you decide to and the outcome. !!

Significant Technical Input
The only problems we've encountererd with SRS systems (none SVX, so far) have been the deterioration of the clockspring, or as vkykam calls it, the fruit roll-up ) Mostly I've replaced them on Caravans and a couple Fords, as the cars that have SRS continue to age I suspect we'll see a few more of them.

Just for the record...

It wasn't I who called it the fruit rollup, but the 'Cat. He was the one that diagnosed it for me.

The ghost of the 'Cat is always around. Just look at the closed forum.
