Re: 6 speed gear ratio

You want an 06 with DCCD. The 07+ have the trans fluid pump removed, and some other changes that I don't remember off the top of my head. I looked into it last year sometime, and settled on the 06 being most optimal for the SVX. The 08+ use a different speed sensor setup than the earlier years and no one's swapped one into an SVX to know how to deal with it yet.

2nd: 2.375
3rd: 1.761
4th: 1.346
5th: 0.971
6th: 0.756
final 3.9, reverse: 3.545

2007:
1st: 3.636
2nd: 2.375
3rd: 1.521 vs 1.761 in 2006
4th: 1.137 vs 1.346 in 2006
5th: 0.971
6th: 0.756
final 3.9, reverse: 3.545

^ These are what I found online after a quick search. You want to verify that they're right before spending large sums of money.

Gear ratios are both fine.

In your research have you found one that is built stronger, that could handle more torque/horsepower?

Re: 6 speed gear ratio

It was actually halfway through '07 that they removed the oil pump. If you wish to change the ratio of 5-6 an '07 is the way to go. You can replace them in the '06 like I did, but you need a specially machined woodruff key. There is an option for the speed sensor by the same guy who makes the DCCD Pro. It taps into the abs speed sensors I believe.

So my '06 6 speed looks like this:

1st: 3.636
2nd: 2.375
3rd: 1.761
4th: 1.346
5th: 0.891 vs 0.971
6th: 0.707 vs 0.756
reverse - 3.545
final drive ratio - 3.454

I think they will all be pretty similar, since the gears are interchangeable between different ones, and therefore the same size. The DCCD ones ought to fare better with putting the power down. The 05+ front diffs are different and should be better as well. The only other difference I could think of in terms of handling more power is the pump. I read a little on nasioc, and I don't remember any details, but the general feel of the discussion was disappointment that they got rid of the pump.

If you're not sure the pump I'm talking about, the pre-07 6-speeds have an oil pump in the trans, that circulates oil and sprays or squirts it onto the gears from above, rather than relying on the fluid splashing around in there to get on everything. It's a good thing. The transmission guy who took apart mine seemed really impressed and surprised that it had a pump in there at all. I guess it's an uncommon thing.

^ dragoontwo, your setup is pretty much ideal. The high 6th gear should be a good match for the torquey EG33. Even the .756 stock will be better than what I've got (.842). Good to know that the earlier 07s have the pump still. I guess that makes those the better option, since the gearing is spaced a bit more evenly. Do you know if there's any difference in the DCCD for 07?

Re: 6 speed gear ratio

The '06 is basically the same as the newer ones, just different gearing.
