Clear Coat question

The clear coat on my hood, roof, and trunk has acid rain damage. Well, I think it's acid rain. Anyway, I have what looks like permanent water spots that are actually pealed clear coat. The underlying paint is just fine, so I wanted to see if there is a process of stripping the clear, and reapplying it. Thanks in advance.

Not necessarly necsesary

There are many good clear coat cleaners on the market. I personally use Mequires Body Scrub Clear Coat Cleaner.

A little elbo grease and you'll be all set. Keep the car waxed well with a good quality wax and it'll be easier to keep clear of new spots.

If the clear is truely flaking off, most likely your car has been repainted by a typical cut cornesr shop or possibly you got a very rare bad factory paint. There is no inexpensive answer, the clear is harder than the basecoat so anything that removes the clear will also remove the color. The only real solution is to strip the car down to the metal and start over.

Is your car by any chance Barcelona Red? Ive seen a couple of those with peeling clear.
