Re: Passenger door STUCK shut/on lock

Fortunately i pried the door panel open enough to be able to visualize the mechanism. It seems the latch itself is stuck somehow. It's way past slim jim, I disconnected all the linkages and pulled/pried every which way and still no luck

Pull up on the lock button on the door while pulling the handle. The right combination of this should allow the door to open.

Hahah oh man lemme tell you i've been through at least an hour of this. 3 people even, inside handle/lock + power lock switch with two people on the outside trying to operate the handle and key. Pretty much every combo possible

Re: Passenger door STUCK shut/on lock

if you disconnected all the linkages then pulling on the handles won't do anything. can you move the linkage that goes from the inside door handle to the latch by hand? is there resistance?

Yes. It gets like halfway and the arm(?) that it connects to on the latch starts to bend sideways... Completely unlike the opposite door ( i took that panel off and watched how it worked) Still can't seem to figure anything out.

I guess the last resort is to destroy the mechanism until it comes open - using whatever tool you can squeeze in there: Hacksaw blade, file, hammer/chisel, bolt-cutters, dremel, etc. You're going to need a new one anyway.

Re: Passenger door STUCK shut/on lock

the lock mechanism puts a small piece of metal in the way to prevent the latch pulls from moving completely. sounds like this is in your way. look in the door with a mirror to see if there is a little tab that is keeping the handle from pulling all the way out, it is probably just jammed in the lock position.

Re: Passenger door STUCK shut/on lock

Had a buddy go all out on it. Had to bust off all of the plastic latch backing till we got to the latch itself. Still intact w/ spring. CLASSIC way of fixing for the moment. Took a piece of wire from the latch to the key tumbler... slightly turn the key backward to unlatch the door... hahahahaha
