Electrical Issue

About a half hour ago I'm driving home and as I put on my left turn signal my radio turns off, the interior lights dim, and my ABS and air bag light are on. I kept driving and the radio would cut in and out and I noticed that if I turned off my headlights the air bag light would turn off but the ABS one stayed on. Made it home alright, but I'm not sure why this happened. I did replace the alternator about a month ago, but I don't know whether to suspect that or not because not all of my dash/tree lights came on.

When I get a bit of time I'll check the voltage...assuming the car isn't completely dead.

Re: Electrical Issue

Before totally writing off the alternator, make sure your battery connections are clean and free of corrosion. Also check the alternator main terminal for the same. Id also inspect the grounds in the engine bay. Hopefully your voltage check wont turn up an overvoltage, which is murder for the systems in our cars.

..It's a rebuilt alternator from AutoPartsWay.com. If I remember right I paid $212 shipped and then I returned my core to them for a refund of $92.

I'm positive it's alternator, all of my tree lights are shinning in my face now..

Yeah, most rebuilds can fail unless they went through and replaced all involved parts. (something almost none of the rebuild companies do). I would suggest getting one from Maniac. either stock amperage or HO and call it a day.

.

Cheaper...
Better quality components and construction...
Twice the warranty...
Free shipping (mention 4747 when checking out either ordering online or by phone)
Prepaid label for return of old core...

Short of having Christian fly from Dallas to personally install it for you, what more can you ask for?
