Where did you get the temp sensor from? |

Re: Got the new temp sensor..still no start
The temp sensor code is gone, so I believe that problem is fixes. Befor the " no start" condition the check engine light would come on, the power would dramatically decrease; then the light would shut off and the power would return.
I bought the temp sensor from the dealer.

As no code is now registering, it is unlikely that the sensor is faulty. Therefore it appears that something else was upset during work when the sensor was replaced. What could have been disturbed? Think on even the unlikely.

Re: Got the new temp sensor..still no start
The use of starting fluid sprayed into the throttle body thru the PCV or other intake ports would be a vital provider of information.
If it starts with starting fluid, you have confirmed properly timed spark, but no fuel, or no properly timed injection If it does not, and you say you have confirmed that you DO have spark, then timing of fuel or spark is where you should look. Since you checked the timing belt and cam alignment already, then it would seem to be a crank, cam, or MAF sensor problem if you cant kick it over with starting fluid. |

Re: Got the new temp sensor..still no start
Would the MAF cause a no start? I will try starting fluid in the morning......if it is the MAF causing my troubles, should I purchase the Z32 (300z) MAF or stay stock?
What about the 90mm MAF from a 1995 Infinity Q45?

Re: Got the new temp sensor..still no start
A bad MAF can cause the not starting situation. The starting fluid test is a good idea, if it starts, then more likely you have a MAF problem.
In this case, is better to keep stock, unless you want to install an Ecutune or something.

Re: Got the new temp sensor..still no start
Maybe... But could a bad MAF prevent starting on a car that started "before" the temperature sensor was replaced.
Logic must be somewhere in the equation... Keith |

Maybe he should resistance test it, or just leave it unplugged while cranking it over. A bad temp sensor right out of the box isnt unheard of. Hopefully the starting fluid test will shed some light, with confirmed spark and confirmed fuel apparently, the only thing left is the timing of such, which will narrow the suspect list down a bit. Im wondering if the regular unleaded gas thats in the tank is causing the knock sensors to retard the timing enough to cause a no-start..... that could be a factor as well. |

TEEHEEHEEHEE, snort!
Actually the wiring and TPS plug are in the "neighborhood" of the water temp sensor, so it is possible to bump it loose or, break a wire there.

Re: Got the new temp sensor..still no start
Correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the engine have to run for a bit before new codes could be set in the ECU? Or does the ignition just have to be on? Logic suggests that he check where he was working, as mentioned, but if he did get a bad temp sensor, could it still kick a code even on a no-start?

Re: Got the new temp sensor..still no start
Shot starting fluid directly into the plenum with the MAF unplugged.....nothing, not even a sputter Checked all the plugs, they are good. The no start problem has been a monkey on my back for months now, there has to be something simple I am over looking here
Originally--I parked it , shut it of then went to start...no start, tried to start on one or 2 cylinders but not enough to run. Have spark, fuel...tomorrow I am going to pull a spark plug to check compression and spark timing. TPS...throttle positioning sensor?

Re: Got the new temp sensor..still no start
I would put the old temperature sensor back on and see if it still does the same as it did before replacing it... start but not run well...
might help you decide about the condition of the replacement sensor. Keith |
