Some thoughts about Level 10

Okay, so some of you may have heard that I recently took the plunge and got a level ten transmission. Well, after ironing out a few kinks, none of which are level 10s fault, I've got a exactly what they advertise. This transmission has been transformed from a slush box into a high performance unit that has firm, consistent shifts and generally makes the car drive like it has at least 50 more horsepower. This transmission is an excellent product, but the service at level 10 has been nothing short of spectacular. Pat, the founder and owner, spent hours with me on the phone and has been generally amazing through the whole process. I was able to communicate to him exactly what I expected and wanted out of this transmission, and he made sure that I got exactly that. Even more than that, he has given me confidence that I have really purchased the last transmission I will ever have to put in this car. I fully expect this transmission to last forever and I rest assured that should I ever have a problem with it, I have technical support only a phone call away.

Purchasing one of these transmissions is probably the best money I have ever spent on this car. If you are reading this and have any questions don't hesitate to PM me.

This would be a good post for the Product and Service Reviews section.

Re: Some thoughts about Level 10

All down through the years we have heard similar praise for Level 10 product and service.

Phil over in the UK at quite enormous initial expense [due in part to shipping charges] many years ago put a Level 10 transmission in his CXD. It failed last year and I was surprised. However he had in fact put over 150K miles on it, and without the benefit of an external cooler.

Level 10 sent him the clutches to refurb the box, he can tell you the details himself. This time he went to a lot of trouble to fit coolers in the wheel arches, a la Nissan S14 or Audi TT. I would not expect any more breakdowns.

An excellent company.

Have you done the Power mode mod? If you have not done so, then you should. It will further transform your car at practically zero cost or risk.

Glad you are pleased with the job.

Joe

Joe

I have not. But it is on the list. I have been looking at my subaru terminal kit sitting in my tool box and have been thinking I need to do it. I suspect I'll be driving in power mode all the time come next week

When I had the Japanese SVX, I used it switched on all the time.

We have often discussed the fact that Power Mode is a misnomer. BMW call their version "Sport" mode, which is closer to correct.

However, "Access to Power" mode would be a more accurate description. The gearbox maps let you rev out the gears, and give quicker kickdown. Both of these let you use the upper rev ranges more, and as we know from dyno maps, this in fact lets you access the higher horsepower section of the engine's output.

Win win situation.

With a name like Pat, his genetic background must be impeccable.

Re: Some thoughts about Level 10

I have in a poetic manner, previously mentioned that Pat knows his subject and is a very nice guy.
He has assisted me in the past by answering questions relating to items which have been in debate, thus confirming my statements relative to transmission details. Recently he has again confirmed understanding regarding a technical matter. All of this, by spending time without any possibility of material gain.
