Glass Headlight Poll

for background information see this thread
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...968#post569968

According to Rinus, I have learned that you can get LHD/German-spec glass headlight assemblies for a little less than the cost of our comparable units in the U.S., plus shipping.

But at a price...

If you had to buy new lights, would you give up your current fog light capabilities to get glass lense without fog lights?

I like the fogs although mine quite working. First the left one was intermitent and then the right one went off. New bulbs too. My car has a lot of mystery wiring problems.

Re: Glass Headlight Poll

This is a spring time job I do every year, sand the lights, get rid of the yellow and then polish the lights. This makes it much easier to see at night. Glass lights would be great. I think the plastic lights will break with a good rock hit. If these glass lights are as good as the Impreza lights then they would be tough.
I think I would add fog lights below the bumper. Where do the German SVXi have the fog lights?
Do these glass lights just fit right into the USA svx? There are a few bolts that attach the fender to the plastic lights and the bolts screw into the threaded plastic.

Peace,
John

Re: Glass Headlight Poll

Do we have a contact that would be willing and is trust worth enough to purchase these lights for us? I am sold on the glass headlights, i was debating on getting the new plastic ones, but ultimately they will turn yellow and I'll have to shell out another $300.00

Re: Glass Headlight Poll

I keep my fogs on at all times, but if it were down to fogs or glass......glass wins out hands down.

Fogs can always (and already plan to be) added to the bumper.....

Re: Glass Headlight Poll

I would hate to give up my HID fog lights in my current units. If I could retrofit ALL of my current bulbs into the new glass units that would be extremely tempting; or else just pull off the glass lenses and fit them onto our current boxes (assuming they are the same)

I still have those factory headlight shields so I could still protect the glass lenses from that stray rock that would undoubtedly find me, the way I do now.

Re: Glass Headlight Poll

Hi Guys

I have been informing about the glass headlights
I have found the numbers and the price (in Holland)
Unfurtunately the prices are higher than suggested in previous mails, I am very sorry for that.

The numbers are 84001PA080 and 84001PA090
They will cost Euro 484.00 a piece excl 19% VAT (Euro 576.00 incl VAT)

Because I am a private person I cannot retain the lights without paying the VAT

Perhaps there is a possibility that you can order those in the US directly, but I cannot tell you that.

Sorry again for any shattered hopes
If someone wish to have them anyway, I will be glad to help.

Greetings

1 Euro = 1.26 dollars
576 x1.26 = $725.76

-Bill (thinking that his plastic headlights aren't all that bad....)

Re: Glass Headlight Poll

Am I the only one who's seeing the $1500+ price tag for new ones?
