wierd rim color

bought this svx and came with this 1 rim this color.
this isn't a stock color is it?

Looks like it may have been painted Gunmetal. Is it the same colour on the back side? Is there an inconspicous spot you can scratch it to see if it's painted? If it is, the paint can be removed quite easily.
