sunroof won't open

My 96 has a sunroof that wont open. No power to the switch. When I jump into a live & put it directly to the switch I then have a signal that both sides of the switch work, but still no action @ the motor. Any quirks on this system? Is there a fuse or a relay ???? & do you have to take the whole roof headliner down to get @ the motor?

Sometimes it sounds like mine is not doing anything, but if I Thumb the switch, and use the rest of y fingers to push up on the panel at the same time, it will go up.

This is just the age of the motor, and I expect you can adjust the strength over time. I have not done it myself tho, I just adjust me to fit the needs of the car.

Cool Re: sunroof won't open

Mine did that a few years ago - so spent about 2 hours!! cleaning ALL the rails then spaying a CRC lube into all the places (wipe away excess so that is does not get into head liner or paintwork).

Should get it all going - if not then check the folders area on sunroof adjustment? (I presume that someone might have posted a "how to do" in there?)

Re: sunroof won't open

My 92 as well as another one that I have seen acts like that. Can you hear the motor turning at all? If so then like they said, push up on the sunroof. You don't have to do it while you push the button though. Push the button to release the sunroof, then push it up and then push the button again to open it.

Re: sunroof won't open

For my "sticking" sunroof, I use silicon spray on the "gasket" around the sunroof. I have to do this every couple of years. I too was using the "push it up with your hand" method until I tried the silicon spray. Make sure you give it a good dose, might take two before it stops sticking. Might want to grease the rails while your at it, I use white lithium grease.
