Short Ram Intake
I just installed a short ram intake into my car, and I am new at this. Is there anything else I must do for it to work properly after its bolted on?

A hot air intake!!!! Run some piping into the fender well then put on your filter. Cold air intake is way better than sucking in hot engine air.

When you pull your airbox, you'll find a hole in the fenderwell. You really should run pipe through that hole, then mount that filter to the pipe inside the fender. More accurately between the fender and the fenderwell.
What this does is allow your engine to suck in colder air, increasing HP. Mounting that filter to the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, will net a lower restriction, making more HP. The cost is that the hot underhood air takes more HP than the filter makes.

You will need a piece of intake piping that has a 90 degree bend and cut to the size you want.

the only chance you have of hydrolocking your motor is if you drive into a puddle the size and depth of a small pool

+1 on what siceclipse said.
If you mount the CAI just inside the fender opening & ensure that the inner plastic liner is intact, you'd have to go into water over your headlights to drown your engine. Hydrolck=BAD JUJU Check with TomsSVX about his Tomyx intake. Proven numbers, and you can get the CAI with it. Thread here

he's not talking about actual ram air. a true ram air setup would net you more hp.

Wolfy,
I tried the K&N filter and it screwed up my MAF sensor. It was probably the sticky spray you need to add to the filter. I believe others also experienced this. |
