If I hadn't found my SVX I'd likely be in an XT6. I also seriously looked at a Caddy El Dorado ETC. A VERY nice car with a 300HP Northstar V8. I was scared off by the issues with plain basic mantenance. IE pulling the upper intake to change the alternator. I'm also QUITE put off by OnStar, and it's ability to track the car without your knowledge.

When I got mine I was looking at a BMW 325is an Outback wagon, Delorian (not joking on this one, just not as a Daily Driver) Porsche 944, possibly a Jeep Grand Cherokee, untill I test drove one, looked at a 4Runner, but I'm too tall and I think the footwell/pedals were too small for my feet, 3000GT crossed my mind, BMW 535i 5 speed, and I think a few others.

Money did have something to do with it, but more condition of the car, a small lady had owned it, so the seat and all wasn't beat up, it looked new when I got it.

If they were more expensive I wouldn't have plans to have several, but I would want to have at least one

I wanted a SVX from the time they came out in '92, but couldn't afford one. Then in '95 I needed a car and found a '94 FWD still on the dealer's lot and bought it for less than $20K WITH a 100K warranty and only 900 miles on the clock (they were hard for the dealer to get rid of, if you remember). Gave the '94 to my son when I found a '97 (with 9K miles on it) in 2000 - had to pay full bluebook at $22,500, but it has been worth every penny. Still have the '97 and have picked up a '92 with 135K miles on it .....

Love these cars!!

But if I didn't have a SVX, I would be looking for a '74 / '75 BRICKLIN - now talk about a car with quality problems!!! But I would still like to have the gull-wing beast!! Water leaks and all!!

Harry

The better question is, when are you gonna put a new set of rings in your 92.... I cannot wait for the auto-x season to start up again

Tom, Tom,
Now be nice - someone has to spray for those pesky insects!!!!

BTW, the car is at OT's now for an "assessment" of what needs to be done. Don't think it is the rings .... more like the valve guilds or perhaps sucking oil from the crankcase. But OT will get me straight!!

Yep, autocross is just around the corner. Do we know yet if the Subaru Challange will be held again at Ripkin Stadium this year - I remember that that was almost an issue last Sep.

Harry

oil in the combustion chamber is important, it keeps the rings lubricated so they don't wear

Proabably because you either choked or blinded everyone else.

That's what they get for thinking they could beat Harry.

The SVX wasn't under my watch when that happened, but you can rest assured that it doesn't have that "Dell mod" anymore.
