Sway Bar Bushings

Yo yo yo, I just noticed last night that whenever I turn left my SVX makes an awful clunking noise.

Figured it was the tie rods right? Yah, no. My very scrawny friend got under mah ride and checked it out, said they looked fine. Then he mentioned "You totally have no bushing connecting your sway bar."

Yeah, it's just kinda hangin out down there. So like, does anyone know how much one would run me, and how easy they are to come by?

Translation; Gentlemen, after examining my automobile I have discovered that there seems to be a certain lack of elastomer in the anti-sway bar bushing area. Could any of you good chaps advise me on the cost or procedure for their replacement.
Thanking you in advance,
nonSTOP-service,Esq.

nonSTOP-service, It is good to hear from you.
Sorry that you are having such a boggle.
Is it the front or the rear anti sway bar that is giving you the difficulty?

"Old Tom"

A related thread:

If I had it to do over I'd probably just order 'em from Subaruparts.com, since there's no dealership nearby, but you might be interested in the aftermarket sources referenced above.

Hmmm...

I have a similar issue. Whenever I turn left from a stop, or close to it (stop or yield sign) and then accelerate away I have a horrible groaning noise. I thought it could be the bushings at first, but they look ok (passenger might need replacing, but driver side looks great). I'll probably do them anyway because they're cheap and an upgrade...

But still don't think it'll fix the problem. The main clue I think is that it only happens when I accelerate, so under load. Leads me to believe something in the drivetrain... any thoughts? I could just be crazy, and maybe its my bushings. But I know just cornering doesn't create a groan, so that is why I think there is a larger issue.

I doubt that's a failed sway bar bushing. When mine blew-out (on the left-front), the sway bar rattled around so loudly when the car went over the slightest imperfection in the pavement, I could hardly stand driving the thing home. Had I not known the trouble I would have parked immediately and called for a tow.

**** son, holla at yo boy a little mo often. Sounds like you got some **** need to be set proper. Check it though, is that sound bumpin from the ass of your ride, or is the rig squakin from the front?

Hola back,
"Upgreydd"

But yeah, it's the front passenger side bushing. Upon closer inspection, we realized the entire sway bar was just hanging loose. Not only was the bushing plain missing, but the bracket had rotted out and broke off.

Luckily I made friends with the head at the local Subaru Parts/Service department, so I got the pieces on order. Should be in tomorrow. Bout $12 for the pair. Sorry my last post was so awful, I was kinda... Inebriated.
