I had someone tell me about a little country junk yard not to far from me, that I never visited (in the middle of no where) that had a SVX in it....went to chek it out, and it had been crushed already...they told me they had had 3 of them, and never sold even one part off them, and they had all went to the crusher ...yes, motors and all..... ...almost made me physically ill, as I can get them from them for just over scrap prices...but they haven't gotten one since I've been keeping track of them....
I have gotten a couple Imprezas off them, which is where many of my soon to be 5-speed swap parts came from

i looked at another one in a "hill billy" yard this week.it was flipped and is TOTALLED...........NO glass NO body panels to salvage 'cept maybe the front bumper cover and l/h headlight/signal if a person is desperate NO interior NO wheels 201,000 kms.....
this guy wanted 400 $$ (!!!) for just the rear diff when i needed one last fall... now that ive seen the car i dont even want to bother talking price....the ONLY thing salvageable is the motor and its been there for 1-2 years minimum....i pulled the dipstick and it was full and nice and clean but..........? it was owned by a young guy who eliminated the AIR FILTER to run a home made intake to the inner fender.......sheesh.....all he did was ditch the filter box and a clean quality filter wouldnt have impeded flow....some people eh?!? plus the interior was all hacked for a stereo......... sighhhhhhhhhh i guess i could get the rear diff and all the axles/spindles/control arms out of it..... then again........there is also the steering rack starter alternator a/c pump etc etc hmmmmmmmm it will cost 150$ just to have it flatbedded to me........ i'll have to think on it i guess......

One of the local yards had 4 at one time. They wanted way too much for parts and acted like they thought they could really make more by selling to someone who really wanted the parts. Ok, that was fine, but then they crunched them all to make more room for other cars. Why don't they sell at a decent price and at least make some money on them? It just doesn't make sence.

Most of the junkyards I've done business with are backward and illogical, IMHO. (There are a few good ones!) Even the "you-pull" yards, which promise killer deals if you do the work, regularly baffle me with their policies. I tried to buy a complete car out of one place a few years ago and the price seemed pretty good ($500- not an SVX) until they wanted to charge me $100 PER CAR to move 3 or 4 other cars on the row to get to it. I can understand how they make more money from parts than from selling complete cars, but this place completely turns over their inventory probably every 2-3 months, sending many nearly-complete cars to the crusher. I don't get that... Same place is notorious for charging separately for various components of one assembly, like if you want a radiator fan, you're going to get charged separately for the fan, the motor, AND the housing. The fact that most of the employees/cashiers speak english only as their second language doesn't help either. And I don't know how many good engines I've seen completely trashed at the "you pull" places just to retrieve some small internal part. What's up with that?
Then there was the time I tried to buy an alloy wheel on half-price day only to be told that everything was half price EXCEPT wheels, which weren't really "for sale"- you could buy the tire for half price with the wheel and pay a core charge for the wheel which would be refunded if you returned the wheel, OR you could keep the wheel and forfeit the core charge, which was NOT half-price. I argued with the manager for a while over that. One day in a "full service" yard, I watched a guy spear a rare car through the windshield with a forklift and roll it over on its back, completely ruining most of the sheetmetal, just to pull a $10 power steering line from off the bottom(!)
