My last road trip I drove seventy-something miles before the needle dipped below the F. By 150 mi. it read half-full.

I have a 5 MT too... Blown CATs and a slipping alternator belt... I regularly get 22 miles per gallon in my combination of HWY and city driving...

What miles per tank do yall get?

The gauge thing is bugging me too. Are there any other Subi models that have the same sending unit? Im sure the dealership will rape me if I get a new one there..

Thanks Chris
Before you buy a new unit try something first. i had the same thing on my legacy. The problem is that a build up of sulfur on the sensor causes a bad reading. The legacy has two sending units, so i was wiling to try anything. i tried a bottle of techron fuel additive specifically made to keep gauge sending units clean. My range on my gauge went from 100 miles to 250.
Give it a try, its about 7.00 US.

I'm now up to 740kms and still haven't filled up.

Did take a hard left turn on the way to work and the engine cut out for a split second.

I've never seen my Low Fuel light illuminate. Is it supposed to light up as a self-test before starting the engine?
