auto. seat belt in-op!!

hey,

my auto. driver side seatbelt on my 92 SVX is simply stuck open.

any thoughts on where to start? I know that my interior light still turns off when the door is shut, and the light indicating that the door is shut on the I.P. as well. the seatbelt light is always flashing on the I.P.

Thanks!!

Mike

Your answer lies within that flashing seatbelt light.

If you go to the SVXipedia on http://svx-iw.com there is a code checking section. Follow the procedures for checking the code then report back to us.

It's located behind the driver's kick panel. It's the same terminal used to check the engine codes.

There are 2 blue wires taped up to the wiring. Remove the tape and use either of them to plug into the connector.

Good question. I've never run this diagnostic yet and I don't have my FSM's to verify. Please submit feedback on that article and I'll update it once I have further clarification.

Now you'll need to check the functionality of that switch. Again I've never done this and I don't have access to my FSM's so hopefully someone else can assist further.

Take the a-pillar trim, and the interior piece beside the rear seat off. Unplug the seatbelt unit. use the tool under the floor in the console to crank the seatbelt to the back position. turn on the ignition. turn off the ignition. close the door. plug in the seatbelt. turn on the ignition. your seatbelt should now function properly.
