I don't know why but I didn't think this was your first try. not bad for a first try I have painted 16 cars to date From Enamel to Epoxie. there is a certain rules of order on painting, First rule yes it should look like crap for the first 2 or 3 coats, rule#2 you never stop the gun in the middle of a panel. Rule 3 the distance between the gun tip and the car must be the same at distance and angles all the time, There is an order in what is painted first. als all seames should be blown out with the air gun before painting. If I was painting an SVX I would have painted the hood ,Roof and trunk first even tough it is the same color, then I would have masked it off . One reason being a beginner the whole car was to much for a starter project. #2 Leaning and streching over the car is a pain. After the hood trunk and roof were done you start at the front driver door seam going 6 inches into the front fender ,this will be your blend when you come back around . now do the door , next you do the wheel well, and fill in the fender making sure you go a few inches into the door Do the rear panel Then pass wheel well the same as you did the right side. going into the pass door them the Pass door then the front wheel well ( yes the gun will be upside down as you sweep the wheel wells ) then you do the fender top and filll it in. Go do the Driver whell well and fill it in and tis time as you go into the Driver door only go an inch or to. sit down and rest. About 10 min. and start all over again repeat 4 or 5 times, You should be able to see thu the firs 3 maybe even 3 coats. thats the way I would have done it. If it was my car I would wet sand it all down with 400 and give it 2 more coats following the above directions. Like I said not bad for a first try better than my first.

If you want to avoid seeing through the coats, use a little tint in the primer. This will help the final coat to cover more evenly, especially if the final color is a dark one. When you start your paint gun, spray outside of the car and slowly move your way to it. This will avoid getting a heavy starting point on the car and giving you runs. All else said, Nice job!

Good job. That is more than I would have wanted to do or even dare to do. Like you said, be ready to take it to MACO.

Unfortunately I probably won't be able to make it to the meet. Kind of busy, and I think I might need a new front-left axle (unless someone wants to put it in for me there ) Dan sold his car by the way, bought a Mercedes (the little hatchback).

Just got a set of rims too, will pick them up sometime this week. They're cheap, with cheap tires, but I think they'll look good. Kinda ricer-ish, but I'm getting a good deal on them, going to be a pain to clean though...
Dude, ya should help me out and buy my wheels and tires

Look for my thread in the "Wanted / For Sale" Forum...

If anyone is scared to do the actual paintwork, I have heard of great success stories of people doing all of the prep work, then bringing it somewhere for a cheap coat of paint. The prep work is really the trick to a great paint job. I have seen a car that got a Maaco paint job with many hours of personal prep work and looks amazing.

I saw a Dodge Charger 1968 that a guy hadpainted at Macco. his wife was sick of seeing it in 4 different colors, so to shut her up he had them paint it. It came out so good he kept it that way. Not a Trophy winner but it looked real good from 19 feet away

Nice car Beast. But now you need to change your name! Hey, Atco! I lived in Atco most of my life. From 7 until I moved out when I was 25.

It looks pretty good. After you've done "11" and waxed it again, it'd look even nicer..........show more better pics.

thanks for the pics.
