AWD going bad???

I have been having trouble with my tranny, go figure, not locking up, shutter during take off, and a horible noise when it is warming up at speed arounf 70 MPH, rpm's 3k. I turned off the AWD because of the shutter. When I drove it to work there was no noise and the tranny locked up. On the way home, after school, it locked up several times and no noise.

Could the AWD clutch package cause all this? ??Harvey?? <--Tranny gurou

Sounds like a bad awd transfer clutch or Solenoid C IMHO...

As you have a 4.11 awd trans, I wouldn't mind selling you the transfer clutch assembly (including the solenoid c) for a reasonable price + shipping. It has 30K after the rebuild and the majority of this trans is in excellent condition.

I know not many people are willing to part out a trans, but I'll be willing to take pieces off of this one. Front diff is in excellent condition as well...

...I remember you were back-n-forth between PA and MN for some time. If you were able to come out to WV for the install of my 4.444 trans - and help me with replacing my front crank seal - I'll give you the rebuilt 4.11 trans coming out of my car for free...

Thanks Chike, but I have my origional SVX tranny and parts left over from the Impreza one too. I have a known good AWD clutch package.

I wish I could be there in WV but I am stuck in MN for a few years.

No prob. I wasn't sure about the condition of your former 4.11 trans.

You may want to disconnect your driveshaft and try installing the transfer clutch and Solenoid C from your old trans. Your problem should hopefully go away...
