Uh-Oh Advice needed ASAP
While cleaning my throttle body, the plastic straw-type tip for the Valvoline spray cleaner blasted off and I think eded up inside the butterflies. Should I be worried?

I doubt it would melt, but I agree - you don't want it in there anyway. Get it out at all costs.

I guess I'll wait for a fifth or sixth opinion
If it really is in there (it blasted off and i didnt see where it went, and now i'm not seeing it on the ground or in the engine area) then there's no way I can get it out, since I'm basically working from my apartment's lot with two screw drivers and a vice grip plyer (unbelievable useful, by the way!). I imagine I would need metric wrenches and ratchets and all that good stuff to get at this thing. Right now I'm lucky if I can reattach all my hoses to my air intake. I've got two more places to plug them back in on the left here, but appear to be two hoses short...maybe they ended up with that straw tip somewhere... |

I think it will get ingested and chewed up by th eintake valves and expelled by the exhaust valves. It will prevent the valves from closing all the way until it blows thru.
I wear rubber gloves and spray the cleaner on a paper towel that is folded to clean the TB. I found it to be a rough start if too much cleaner goes into the engine.

I just cleaned mine last weekend. I sprayed a lot in there and had no problem restarting. I did take the plastic tube off the can becasue they knock off so easy and just sprayed from the can.

Take the TB off. There are 8 Bolts if I recall. BUT DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING. If you do, you WILL need a whole new TB. The adjustments are very small for the openings and are very hard to redo.

I would *strongly suggest* picking up a set of sockets and a driver. even if it';s a 5-dollar autozone set of cheapies. I can't imagine going through life (Automotive life at least) without a set of tools. sockets (and vice grips ) being an absolute minimum.
another cheap but useful tool is a ball joint puller (aka "pickle fork"). I've never used one to pull a balljoint, but I've used it for countless other applications. if you own a SVX, you should definitely own tools. eat ramen for a week and lay off the Starbucks, and you can afford a decent set.
