Question What does it all mean??

The engine code for the SVX is EG-33. I know that the "E" stands for Electronic Fuel Injection. But what in the name of Sam Hill does the "G" stand for?? I'm stumped and have searched everywhere for it's sacred meaning. Just curious is all.

Thanks,
Keith

the G is for Gary, the guy responsible for naming engines at Subaru.

All the transmission codes start with "T" too.

According to my computer at work, E= Engine, G= NEW H6 4V.
The 4V I assume is four valves per cylinder. The letter "Z" is now used for H6 engines (EZ30).

Hmmm... I still think that "gravy" is the most compelling answer. certainly the most straightforward.

If that were true, then what would the EJ25 be?

E=Engine
J=Jet Fuel?

I guess that would make EZ30:

E=Engine
Z= Zippo lighter fluid.

And EA82 could be:

E=Engine
A=Afterburner
