transmission question

I have no second gear with my car, shifts from first to second then revs and skips second. I tried the band adjustment on my trans to no avail. What is going on Has my transmission bit the dust or are there other things wrong. Also I have recently changed my fluid and filter but no difference from that. Thanks Damian

Is your 'POWER' light blinking when you start the car? If that light blinks on startup, then you have an electrical problem with the transmision which will cause problems for you.

How did the transmission behave before you adjusted the brake band? If the adjustment you made changed things at all, even for the worse, please detail that change.

I think it's likely that you have worn clutches in your transmission, though. Start saving because you're going to need a rebuild.

I lost 2nd gear first when my tranny had to be rebuilt the 2nd time, I'm told 2nd gear was the first to go when it first failed too. I think other people usually loose the higher gears.

There are other reasons it could be loosing 2nd I guess, but mine was definitely a BBQed tranny (*%*^#* Aamco).
