Chips Anyone?

I stumbled across this from toronto-subaru-club.com, which one of the members stumbled across this from i-club.com.

Has anyone had any experience with the following product for stone chips? I've got like 200 stone chips, clearcoat chipped with basepaint still intact. If this product works, I would for sure buy several bottles to fix my hood...

from how it reads, it sounds like they are selling you a watered down lacquer thinner.

Most touch up paints are lacquer based and catalyzed enamels like clearcoat are impervious to most thinners.

You cane get the same effect by daubing in the touch up paint and the next day going over it with a hard sponge from a paint supply store with a little thinner on it.

With your own remedy or this langka, you'll still have to polish and wax when you are done.

But if I still have white underneath the chip, what you you recommend to touch up the clearcoat to make it smooth? If I am interpreting what you are saying correctly, if I touch up with clearcoat, I won't be able to use "watered down lacquer thinner" to smooth it out?

What type of polish afterwards do you recommend? Like a fine grade rubbing compound (clearcoat safe) or one of those wax/polish type stuff?

Sorry, I don't get here as often as I should to stay involved...

I'm saying use the touch up paint from the store without clear coat and use thinner or langka to smooth it out.

As for polish, I usually start with 3M Imperial Microfinishing compound, then 3M polishing compound, the the Mequires 3 step crystal coat system.
