Anytime they want to adopt the handsfree cell phone law here in Indiana, would be nice.

Well, this is the most I have done with my cell at one time

1. picked up my cell, call my insurance agent
2. drive a stick shift (up and down)
3. pull out my wallet
4. take out my licence
5. read her my number while shifting and driving.

I know that is dangerous.

Now, I have a ear bud thing -- although in Il, it's not legal since you are not allowed to have anything in your ears while driving.

Rather than continue the new-age tendancy to load the car with more & more techno-paraphernalia, I've decided to just park the car in the family room. Please Lord, give me back the days when we were entertained by a lousy AM radio, & the company of passengers conversing about what saw out the window while actually enjoying the "motoring" experience. Kids counted out-of-state license plates and how many Mustangs & Cougers they could spot. Pass the ESSO road map, please. Now, if I can only get this freakin' thing folded! Ron.

Return with us now to the thrilling days of yesteryear....

At last!!! You are my lost brother! You have to be! Remember when we stopped at the roadside fruit stand in Georgia, and you got lost? Well....maybe not...

The only difference is that we counted signs for Stuckey's, Akinson's, Rock City (and the bird houses!) and WekeWachi Springs (sp), and the cars were Hudson's, DeSoto's, Packards, and Studebakers....and daddy would say,"See all that construction over there? When they finish, that will be a highway called an INTERSTATE. We will be able to go all the way to Florida without a stoplight!"

Well you were close dear Dad....you have to get off for gas, food, and wee wee once in awhile.

Don

Amen, and pass me a pack o' "Nabs" and a "Nugrape!" Once, when counting license plates (at around the age of ten), I arrived at a theory: No one lives in Michigan. They all buy Winnebegos and traverse the country. It seemed as though Michigan always won the plate counting contest . . . I always got in trouble for playing too rough in a game of "cow punch" and screaming "pop eye" too loud. I remember falling to sleep to the hum of the road while lying in the floorboard (I was small enough and the cars were big enough) on long trips -- my sister and I would swap (the seat and the floor). Of course this younger generation will one day have their own memories of actually driving cars instead of having their particles disassembled and reassembled in another location -- ah, I remember the days . . .
