4ws problem

4ws not working still! have finished paint and panel, will now look into 4ws problem. could be just a broken wire?
have replaced the control unit... light gone off on dash, but still no go?
i do have a loose wire/connecter under the bonnet... cant see where it connects... double wire ,sitting on top of the left side injectors, long enough to reach the power steering pump. ????
added photo of finished car

Re: 4ws problem

Did your 4WS ever work ?
I'm curious if you can tell the difference between 4WS and non-4WS.
I have both and can't tell the difference. It could be a subtle difference or perhaps mine just doesn't work.

Re: 4ws problem

I think the solution for both of you is to ship your 4WS steering racks to me in the states and replace them with speed or rpm-sensitive steering racks

Cheers,
Bill (who is still searching for 2-3 4WS steering racks...)

Re: 4ws problem

Are you sure it's not working? It doesn't work below 40km/h and it's quite subtle unless you are really chucking the car about. You need to do about 60+kmh and turn it hard and fast to really feel it work. Be really aggressive with it and you should feel something.

Have you tried reading the 4WS module error codes? (see SVXipedia website http://www.svx-iw.com website)

I have a 4WS problem on my black SVX. The error code indicates it's something to do with one of the sensors on the steering column. When I get up to speed, the rear wheels turn to the left. So I have to turn the fronts a little to correct it and I end up going down the road diagonally. Then the error light comes on and the wheels stay fixed in that position. So the car oversteers one way and understeers the other way. But then key off and on and some slow driving resets them back to straight. I'll get around to fixing it one of these days.

Good luck with your problem.
