What would cause...? (electrical)

Greetings and thanks for looking,

I had a shorted alternator a couple of years ago that took out the ABS controller, TCU, ECU, about 12 fuses and 3 or 4 relays. I parked the car for about a year because I got tired of pulling the seats, lying on my back with my head under the dash trying to read schematics with a ohm/volt meter in my hand. I'm getting old and pulling the seats is easier than being a contortionist. I'm back to working on it now. The problems listed below were present during the repair effort. The ECU and TCU did solve drivability issues the car was having.

I have replaced all of the items listed above. The ECU and TCU were replaced recently. Thanks 1986nate. After all of this the car still has the following issues:

1. When the headlights are turned on the corner and license plate lights don't come on. They do come on with the seperate parking light switch on the dash.

2. The dash lights don't come on at all. The warning lights do come on during the start cycle, but not the dash illumination lights.

3. The Air Bag warning light is now on.

4. The radio won't keep the presets after the car is turned off.

I have a few ideas, but want to hear what others think. Almost all of the replacements I made were with used components.

I drove the car after the ECU and TCU were replaced and I remembered why I liked driving the car before; a very cool ride indeed.

I appreciate any comments on what would cause the issues shown.

Thanks, Keith

Keith, what happened to the alternator, was that the voltage regulator died to allow the voltage to rise to about 17/18 volts, that flowed through all the circuits that were on at the time. It will affect relays, fuses, and electrical units that were on. Wiring won't be damaged. Check all fuses, and the Slow Blow fuses in the two fuses boxs.

Harvey.

Re: What would cause...? (electrical)

Thanks,
The over-voltage was enough to blow the braided fusable link in the main fuse box. It sounded like an explosion under the hood while I was driving. I've replaced or tested good most of the electrical components. Is there a fuse or relay that isn't in the fuse/relay boxes? somewhere I might have missed?

I've fixed my parking/illumination lights with a new relay. Make that one more for the trash can. Thanks for the views of my question.
