Engine Revolution Signal (code 23)

Sometimes (so far only once per trip) during my commute, when the engine is idling as I coast in traffic (ie less than 10 mph-ish), in 'Drive (D)' the engine stalls and the car keeps coasting.

When I put the gear selector in N and crank the engine it starts fine and doesn't seems to fail again.

Transmission error code is 23, Engine Revolution Signal.

So, question, any idea's what causes the engine to stall (maybe the engine stalls which causes the 23, or maybe the 23 stalls the engine?) and if so, any clues to a fix.

I tried to search the forum but didn't find an answer.

Thanks
Martin

Re: Engine Revolution Signal (code 23)

Engine code 23 is for a bad MAF sensor. I don't know what you mean by "engine revolution signal". Also the symptoms you are experiencing also point to a bad MAF. Try cleaning it and if that doesn't have an effect, check to see that the soldered connections are still all in tact by opening it up. If you use a K&N filter or similar filter that uses oil on the filter, cleaning the MAF should correct your problem.

Re: Engine Revolution Signal (code 23)

OK, thanks I'll check the MAF Sensor. I got the "Engine Revolution Signal" from a pdf posted here abouts by FSM.

Thanks again.

Re: Engine Revolution Signal (code 23)

If it is a trans error code, it does require the input of the engine RPM signal..> This might be lost when you stall. Check the engine codes for why it is stalling

Re: Engine Revolution Signal (code 23)

Yes. The TCU gives code 23 if the engine stalls.

In my case it was due to bad fuel.
