Battery Drainage Every Day? A Short?

Just got a new battery, every time i leave it parked overnight and come back the next day its dead, i checked the alternator and its fine and again battery is new. So the mechanic told me it is probably a short in the wiring somewhere.

After the car is off, there is a noise coming from the left side, where the abs kit is. It sounds like a fan spinning, or the sound of a loud computer power supply noise, Wich is the reason its draining the battery out every night. Did anyone have this problem before? or might know what it is?, before i take the car to the shop and pay a lot of money looking for a short.

And is there a easier way of fixing it, or finding out what the issue really is.

Re: Battery Drainage Every Day? A Short?

You need to give your ABS pump a good tap to get it from running. That is probably what is draining your battery.

Re: Battery Drainage Every Day? A Short?

A common problem.

Quick fix: rap on the ABS plastic cover with the back of a screwdriver. I have had it stop and never reappear.

Better Fix: Replace the relay. Not hard at all.

One of the first things I had to fix when I picked up my SVX...took me 2 days to noticed that the ABS pump was running on shutoff....lol.

Re: Battery Drainage Every Day? A Short?

What they said! This problem doesn't seem limited to SVXs too. My mother-in-law's legacy did the same thing. I really looked like a genius because i fixed it for her right away. I even had the relay!
