Prior accident?
I removed this question from somebody elses post and posted it in this forum:
I'm concerned that my car might have been in a prior accident as the driver's side door doesn't match up with the paneling, just curious to see what people think. I've noticed this for a while, but have just now got around to asking about it. If anyone feels like it or gets a chance to look at these, look at the gap between the rear of the door and the other pannels. If not, no worries at all Thanks, Dave Left side(STICKS OUT): http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fi...eGravy/4535.JPG http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fi...eGravy/4537.JPG Right side(NORMAL): http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fi...eGravy/4536.JPG |

It looks to me like the door strike is just set out too far.
On the door jamb, there is that little metal knub with the two phillips screws, loosen them and slide the catch about 1/8" back and tighten. See if the door fits better, if not, move it back another 1/8". You may want to tape the catch to the body because it will move around very easily. DO NOT take the screws out. they only need to be loosened a little. The catch slides in any direction so be careful you don't move it up or down or it will be hard to shut the door. Doug

Match mark the part to the body before you start to move it. Then you have a reference point of where it came from.

I did this before, it didn't help my door, i think the catch just moved out again. I removed the screws and turned it around and that helped a little, but it still sticks out a bit.

Thanks Doug. I'll take a look at it this weekend and see if this helps.
