So they decided Oklahoma needed a 3rd Subaru dealer.
I've been with Toyota for about 8 years and have never worked on Subarus more than an occasional or on the side basis since my salvage yard days. A new franchise is opening on tuesday, which will add Subaru service to a department that currently serves Saab, Hummer, and Cadillac. It's a big risk. Should I go for it or stay with Toyota? It could be really fun to be in from the beginning.

So my guess is it is going to be in OKC then. I figured there was one in OKC and I know there is one in Broken Arrow. Now if only we can get one actually IN Tulsa and not a suburb. I'd say at least go an inquire at Suby and if they say "When can you start?" tell them in 2 weeks and go put your notice with Toyota and leave on good terms.

Go to the Subie dealer. I need you to learn Saabs so that you can help me when mine breaks down. (all the time)

I don't believe this is the time to gamble with a job given the economic situation. Unfortunately, I suspect Toyota would provide much more job security. I don't think Oklahoma has ever really endorsed Subarus. To flat in the snow area and to many farmers with 4WD pickups.

Re: So they decided Oklahoma needed a 3rd Subaru dealer.
Hi Nifty, Saab and Hummer will both be gone in the near future. Caddy? Depends on what happens to GM. But I would think they will be gone or sold off to someone else in the near future. If you think about it, GM never brought out a new internal combustion car that wasn't a big repair problem the first year or two. Now, with the VOLT. With a 40 thousand plus price tag. I think you see what I'm getting at. Toyota will last long after GM,SAAB,and HUMMER. All now owned by different guy.s. Also Toyota owns quite a bit if not all of Subaru. At least one dealer,Ann Arbor Toyota, also owns a Subaru dealership Ann Arbor Subaru,on the other side of the lot. So, do what you think is best, but I would stay away from GM or anything it ever touched. Take care, BOBB

Additionally, the vehicles on the road will continue to need service.

Re: So they decided Oklahoma needed a 3rd Subaru dealer.
The good side:
- You will have access to cheap SVXi parts, serve yourself and the community here. - Better Salary: +how much? %25? %50? %100? - More experience in cars... especially with Saab (no one here buys this car, very mechanically challenging and... the name sux. In Arabic as it is pronounced, it means "Hard" lol). The bad side: - You will be leaving a more stable job for a fragile one. Consider the economy, the newly established dealership, etc... Well if it was me in this case, I would consider the salary option first. Everything from + 70% and above, I would consider myself. But again these are tough times, stability should be your aim.
