Landshark, are those wheels clearcoated? The wheels on my '92 have a fairly rough finish which I think is stock. Is this one more improvement Subaru decided to make only AFTER mine was built?

Very good job on the detailing, keep the SVX in storage for winter, the W' can handle the harsh weather just fine.

well, first i have to get some touchup paint! i have a chip-kit that comes with a fiberglass bristle pen for removing the crap from the chip, headless matchsticks, sandpaper, and a little bottle of clearcoat. all of this stuff can be bought seperately, though.

procedure is clean out chip with bristle pen, dab in paint with matchstick, let dry, repeat if necessary, wetsand, apply clearcoat, let dry, wetsand, rub out sanding marks with 3M Imp. hand glaze.

In my experience, scrap the match sticks. Use a Number 2 Artist brush from a art supply/hobby store. It will give you much more control. Also consider masking the area around the chip. This protects from the oops scratch when your hand slips & the sanding scuff from the wet paper you use on the clear coat. Adds time to the prep but saves time in the end for most do it your selfers.

i definitely plan on using masking tape - i'm clumsy. i've used the matchsticks before and they work well - as long as they are trimmed to a nice point on the end.

alright, Amanda, you can detail my whole interior and engine bay - Mike, you can change my tranny fluid, remove the rear speakers, and paint my calipers while you both wait.
i could pick them up, but they wouldn't have any rubber left on the tires when you got them back.
