Question Speakers?

I was curious if anyone knew what size the speakers are in a 92 svx. I think the fronts are 6" and the back are 6x9 but im not sure. If anyone knows id appreciate it

Re: Speakers?

Crutchfield lists the front as 6 3/4" and rear as 6x9.

Re: Speakers?

The rear are a direct 6x9 swap, but I believe the front have to have a fabricated adaptor for aftermarket speakers, you might want to pull off your door trim and check it out first. The tweets are a direct size swap for aftemarkets also.

Re: Speakers?

The rears (as the other members have said) are generic 6x9.

The front speakers are 6.5 but you will require the use of an adapter. Some have used the stock speaker surrounds as the adapter but I found a much better method.

I purchase these adapters each time I retrofit my SVX with new speakers. Some brands of after market speakers may call for these adapters to be trimmed but this can be done simply with a utility knife, as these are made of a soft plastic/mdf-like material. I find these adapters and spade connections make for the cleanest, simplest, and most suitable way to install front after market speakers.

The ebay link is HERE.

I have bought five sets of these adapters so far for all of the SVXs I have but speakers in.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend the MB Quart products.

All four speakers for $148!

I personally have used the DKE-116 for the front, and DKE-169 for the rears.

I have retrofitted these to four SVXs so far with top-notch results! They are absolutely the best speaker value on the market today.

Re: Speakers?

Mike, don't you have to pull the whole rear deck to replace the back speakers?

Re: Speakers?

Good link Mike, ill have to get me a set of those adapters. Yes the rears you have to pull the rear deck initially to remove the covers. On mine, I simply let the rear covers lie unsecured over my sony 6x9's and they dont seem to move at all..... that way if I blow one I dont have to go through what I did to get the stock ones out
