removing dashboard?

hello, recently my car had a charging problem and by that i mean it was charging at 16volts which was enough to blow up my viper 791 alarm that was protected by four fuses, only one of which blew, i also blew every 10amp fuse the car has, some 15 amp fuses and created a few shorts, one of the shorts is with my door locks which is not a huge problem because i could always rewire that easily with my own relays, but i do have a big problem in the fact that i have a short on the power wire to my dash cluster

anyways, i was already wanting to build a full aluminum dash for my car and have it powdercoated and everything since i am tired of the dashboard creak plus i think i could make it look preety cool, is there anything special i need to know to pull my stock dash in order to easily find all of these shorts, also i have a 94 with the pass airbag, do i need to do anything special to disconnect this besides disconnect my battery?

any input will be greatly appreciated.

Though not impossible, removing the dash is shall we say a very in depth proccess. You'll definately need a security screw adapter set and some very small narrow ratcheting sockets.

i am not underestimating it by any means, but what is a security screw adapter set? and where can i get it? but the sockets are taken care of i have a full set of both long and stubby racheting wrenches, all different size ratchets and adapters, pleanty of extensions plus the gear wrench set that basically lets you use the ratched as a ratcheting wrench
