97 Legacy Gt Auto, Will It Fit?

I found one for $100 bux so its hard to pass up. Does anyone know if its a bolt in deal?
what is the gear ratio? I tried a search but cant find much info on GT's.

Yeah it will bolt up. I think it'll be a 4.44. If not, it'll be a 4.11 so try to get the rear diff from the car either way.

if i cant get the rear, how else can i tell if its a 4.44 or 4.11? im guessing count the teeth through the drain plug hole, but how many should it be. Will I need a tourque converter from an svx?

make sure it doesn't have the external trannie filter, i'm told that the tcu wont work with those, and you need to use the legacy torque converter and flex plate, trust me i tried to use the svx converter and it cost me $700 in repairs, the svx one doesn't seat right in the transmission, and will break the pump of installed

Yes (other than the rear diff)

And it should be a 4.44 tranny

I don't know exactly which torque converter is in each model and model year suby but there are a good # of different converter styles out there. People have had problems with overheating the trans using the legacy torque converters on svx's. Also the legacy flex plate is thinner and hence weaker than the SVX flex plate (it's also smaller in diameter so you have to match the flex plate to the torque converter). You will probably want to use an SVX torque converter. There are, I believe 3 different input shaft spline patterns used by subaru. If the splines on the input shaft don't match the svx input shaft just switch shafts along with the torque converter. It pulls right out of the transmission. The pump drive is held onto the torque converter with a spring clip so if it was different you could change the pump drive too.
